Mitchell & District Agricultural Society
Mitchell Loin\'s Park
Looking for some mud, some thunder, and some fun? Check out the new event planned for this June at the Mitchell Lions Park – the Mitchell & District Agricultural Society's Summer Thunder and Mud Fun event.
The concert will take place from 8 to 11 p.m. with a young musician, Benjamin Michael from St. Marys, the opening act. A children's entertainer, the Puppet Lady, will be present in the afternoon along with a play area called the Bubble Zone, which will include activities for kids such as sidewalk chalk, colouring books and educational things.
Also during the day, the Agricultural Society will be hosting what they call the Redneck Games, which will require 24 teams of three men and three women each, all of whom must be over the age of 18. A fee of $60 per team will be levied, with half of the proceeds from team registration going to a charity of the winning team's choice. To register your team for some off-the-wall fun, or learn more about the Redneck Games, visit MitchellFair.com.
Lastly event-goers can also choose to enter the truck show which will be taking place from 2-6 p.m.
“There's no mud pit, there's no racing, there's no running the river, it's a show,” Linton explained. “If they want to bring 'em dirty, that's fine, because I do think they're going to have a category for dirtiest truck.”
