Job Summary

The Quality Inspector, under the direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, will primarily inspect manufactured parts and processes to established criteria, and document results as required. Discrepancies are followed up on as appropriate. In-process auditing and coaching of production staff are part of this role.


Job Duties

Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports
Gather specifications from samples, clients, or the design team
Adhere to established safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times
Ensure compliance with company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery
Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs
Mark, record, and report defective products
Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity, product quality, and safety
Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues


Job Requirements

Knowledge of workplace safety legislation and safe lifting and handling procedures
Knowledge of tool and equipment safety
Highly developed understanding of industry regulations, standards, and best practices
High level of integrity and work ethic
Dedication to safety measures and best practices
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain lasting working relationships
Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures
Demonstrated time management skills
Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
Ability to take constructive criticism
Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff, including laborers, technical, professionals, and upper management
Ability to adapt to new technology
Degree or diploma in a manufacturing-related field
Three years of related experience
Certifications or licences appropriate to manufacturing industry
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
