Description

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for mold changes, process adjustments to maintain quality standards, troubleshooting, scrap reduction, robot setup, and minor mechanical repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities

-          Help meet production goals and objectives by working effectively and minimizing machine downtime

-          Prepare machines for machine startup and shutdown

-          Support in mold changes when necessary

-          Processing quality issues and ensure process changes are logged as per procedure

-          Make machine adjustments to deal with production related quality issues, use log as appropriate

-          Start up, shut down, and minor repairs for robotic equipment

-          Troubleshooting tasks, including, but not limited to, dealing with inconsistent material, faulty equipment, human error, and preventing defects from occurring

-          Performs hourly walkthroughs of each machine, and works in InTouch to ensure accuracy of data, and log defects, start/end times, downtimes, reason codes, and changing production counter numbers of machines

-          Ensures procedures are being followed for purges

-          Follows procedures for dropping parts

-          Complete dryer logs as required

-          Responsible for proper completion of paperwork, including, but not limited to, condition change log, mold change checklist, shift reports, and Injection Technician Daily Checklist

-          Verify and submit first offs to Quality as per first off procedure

-          Communicating between shifts

-          Maintain 5S standards at all times

-          Complete forklift inspections as required, and report issues to Production Supervisor

-          Support continuous improvement activities

-          Operate forklift to get empty totes for production staff as support is needed

-          Responsible for proper Lock-out/Tag-out

-          Perform basic machine maintenance and assigned housekeeping duties

-          All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

-          3 years’ directly related experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing, experience in automotive industry considered an asset

-          Additional sector-specific training considered an asset

-          Knowledge of injection molding process, molding equipment, molding materials and mold tooling

-          High level of processing knowledge

-          Demonstrated mechanical aptitude or knowledge

-          Experience with machine startup and shutdown

-          Ability to produce high quality parts

-          Understanding of process change management

-          Forklift experience an asset

-          Dexterity to grasp, manipulate, and repair machines and equipment

-          Ability to stand for extended periods of time

-          Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs

-          Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures

-          Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office products

 

Working Conditions

This position requires continuous walking throughout the plant. Temperature may be warm at times when working in and around the machines.

 

Physical Requirements

This position may require lifting and/or pushing at times which may weigh up to and including 25 kg.
