The Health & Wellness Manager will ensure residents enjoy a lifestyle and quality of life exceeding their expectations.  Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and staff members.  All duties are performed in best interest of residents and their families, and in accordance with Chartwell's vision, mission and values statement.

Responsibilities of role included but are not limited:

-Effectively uses the nursing process of accessing, planning, implementing and evaluating to provide high quality nursing care to residents.

-Monitors the activities of Guest Attendants/RPN/PSW with respect to the direct care provided to residents.

-Ensure the resident and or family is involved in decisions affecting care.

-Establishes priorities based on individual resident needs, scheduled activities and adjusting these priorities and activities to manage unanticipated events.

-Responds to resident and family concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken.

-Ensures residents receive the appropriate level of care to meet their needs.

-Monitors the well being of residents who no no require care.

-Completes required paperwork for resident admissions, discharges and on going documentations.

-Participates as a member of  the work team and provides support to other team members.

-Participates in the hiring and training of staff who work directly with residents.

-Communicates with families, physicians and external community care agencies.

-Adheres to current legislative requirements.

-Assumes responsibility for the safe administration and storage of medications.

-Maintains accurate charts for each resident.

-Co-ordinates and carries out the action plan related to prescribed care plans.

-Provides required in-service training and orientation to team members, under guidance of General Manager.

The ideal candidate will possess:

-Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.

-RN or RPN.LPN with College of Nurses in Ontario

-Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations.
