The Town of St. Marys is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to take on the responsibilities of Corporate Communications and Events Manager for a contract period of approximately 13 months starting in December 2018. This individual will provide leadership to two direct reports who work collectively to ensure all corporate messaging and materials are accurate and consistent across all departments. The successful candidate will develop, manage and execute communications campaigns to support all Town departments as well as oversee the planning/promotion of municipal events.
Coordinate with staff across the organization to further the strategic goals of the Town's Corporate Communications Plan.
As a member of the management team, work closely with staff to effectively communicate the Town’s mandate.
Develop, manage and deliver individual and annual communications campaigns from inception to completion.
Provide leadership and supervision to internal communications staff and external consultants working on Town projects.
Oversee the development, planning, promotion and execution of current and future municipal events.
Review event statistics, evaluate success and deliver reports to inform relevant stakeholders.
Market and promote municipal facilities to external user groups and act as a liaison for all municipal event requirements.
Create media releases, public notices, advertisements, print and electronic materials, surveys and e-blasts that are consistent with the Town’s strategic direction.
In partnership with the IT Department, oversee the Town’s official website by managing, developing and editing content.
Manage and develop content for the Town's corporate and partner social media accounts; monitor accounts during and outside of work hours.
Promote and ensure the proper usage of the Town's corporate brand by reviewing and approving corporate materials and requests for use of the Town logo.
Post-Secondary education with a focus on Communications, Event Management, Marketing or Public Relations or equivalent education and experience
3-5 years related experience
Valid Class G Driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle
The salary range for this position is $64,344-$82,202 based on a thirty-five (35) hour workweek. The Town of St. Marys offers a progressive work environment.
