Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:00 pm (typical hours)

The successful candidate will be responsible for menu planning, daily preparation and serving of nutritious meals and snacks for children age 3 months to twelve years enrolled within PCFK programs including Child Care, Before and After School and Nursery School programs.

Responsibilities include:

·          food preparation for 4 week rotational menu including baking, lunch serving 90 children, plus morning and afternoon snacks

·          purchasing/ordering of all food items including bulk orders and kitchen supplies

·          provides guidance and direction to assistant (10:30 am - 1:30 pm daily), as well as staff support as needed

·          ensuring all dishes, utensils, food preparation areas, equipment and carts are properly cleaned and disinfected

·          ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen area including sinks, stoves, refrigerators, counter tops, walls, and storage areas

·          adheres to procedures and inspection mandates by the Perth District Health Unit


Safe Food Handling Certificate (current)
Standard First Aid (current)
experience working in a food service environment

Applicants must have extensive knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide and the safe preparation and handling of food.  Other related training certificates, as well as experience cooking for a large group, is an asset.
